Leila is one of the fairies in Gilbert and Sullivan's comic opera "Iolanthe." She is a member of the Fairy Queen's troupe of fairy attendants, and she has a brief solo in the Act I Finale. In the opera, Leila and her fellow fairies are on a mission to help Strephon, who is half fairy and half mortal, win the love of Phyllis, a mortal ward of the Lord Chancellor.
