A hand-washing technique that was promoted during the COVID-19 pandemic as a way to help prevent the spread of the virus. The technique involves washing hands thoroughly for at least 20 seconds, which is roughly equivalent to singing the "Happy Birthday" song twice.

The "Happy Birthday" song is often used as a mnemonic device to help people remember to wash their hands for the recommended length of time. By singing the song while washing your hands, you ensure that you are washing them for at least 20 seconds, which is the amount of time recommended by health organizations such as the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

In addition to singing the "Happy Birthday" song, it is also recommended to use soap and warm water while washing your hands, to scrub all surfaces of your hands, including the backs of your hands, between your fingers, and under your nails, and to dry your hands thoroughly with a clean towel or air dryer. Following these simple steps can help prevent the spread of not only COVID-19, but also other contagious diseases.
