Goffredo is a character in Handel's opera "Rinaldo." He is the leader of the Christian army and a wise and respected commander. Throughout the opera, Goffredo serves as a mentor and advisor to Rinaldo, guiding him through his quest to rescue Almirena and providing support and encouragement to his soldiers.

Goffredo is also a father figure to Almirena, and he is deeply concerned for her safety when she is kidnapped by the sorceress Armida. He works alongside Rinaldo and other knights to plan the rescue mission, and he ultimately leads the Christian army to victory against the Saracens.

As a character, Goffredo embodies the virtues of wisdom, courage, and leadership. His character is also notable for his numerous and beautiful arias, including the stirring "Sorge nel petto" and the celebratory "Alla gloria."
