The Silver Fox is a species of fox that is native to the boreal and western montane regions of North America, and also introduced to some parts of Europe. They are known for their striking silver-grey fur, which is highly valued in the fur trade.

Silver Foxes are generally smaller than their Red Fox counterparts, weighing around 3-5 kg and measuring 75-100 cm in length. They are opportunistic predators, feeding on a variety of prey including small mammals, birds, fish, and insects. They are also known to scavenge and feed on carrion.

In addition to their fur, Silver Foxes are also valued for their adaptability and intelligence. They have been studied for their ability to learn and problem-solve, and have been used in genetic studies to better understand the mechanisms of domestication.

While Silver Fox populations have declined in some areas due to habitat loss and hunting, they are still considered a species of least concern by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
